Before the coming of the Darkness, Gemshroom reinforced the soil of the Grimwood, anchoring tree roots and binding loose ground with dense fungal networks. Their crystalline growths helped guide the spread of mycelium and protected the fungal web from damage. Now, under the influence of the Darkness, they pierce anything that dares cross the boundaries of their network.
